Materials Of Trendy Toys
"Vinyl","Resin","PU resin", "PVC", "Polystone", I believe friends who are interested in trendy toys have heard of these terms.
what are these? Are they all plastic? Is resin more expensive and more advanced than vinyl?
Everyone is confused about these issues of fashion materials and craftsmanship.
There are five main varieties of common general-purpose plastics: PE (Polyethylene), PP (Polypropylene), PVC (Polyvinyl chloride), PS (Polystyrene) and ABS (Acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene Copolymer),PVC and ABS are often used in fashion toys.
And we saw that a certain designer's works use "resin" material, and most of them are PU resin (Polyuracet), what is Polyurethane?
PU resin (polyurethane) is an emerging organic polymer compound, known as the sixth largest plastic. It has some advantages that the traditional five general-purpose plastics do not have.
PVC
PVC comes in two basic forms: rigid and flexible. Rigid forms in life such as water pipes, bank cards, etc.;flexible products become softer and more elastic by adding plasticizers, such as raincoats, plastic films, inflatable products, etc.
PVC and vinyl often used in popular PVC figures are actually made of PVC (polyvinyl chloride), but the processes are different. PVC generally refers to the injection molding process, and "vinyl" is actually a special PVC production process that combines liquid with "glue". (paste PVC solution) is evenly coated on the inner wall of the mold through centrifugal rotation.
ABS
ABS is composed of Acrylonitrile (PAN), Butadiene (PB), and Styrene(PS) is a copolymer of three components, which combines the performance advantages of the three components. It is a "tough, hard and rigid" material with easily available raw materials, cheap price, good performance and wide range of uses. It has excellent heat and cold resistance.
ABS is very easy to process. It can be formed by various process methods such as injection, extrusion, and thermoforming; it can be processed by sawing, drilling, filing, grinding, etc.; it can be bonded with organic solvents such as chloroform; it can also be sprayed, colored, electroplated, and other surface treatments.
In the toy industry, the most famous example of ABS application is LEGO.
